Letting go of Lithium-Colin

it's time for a recharge, well it's been time but today it happens. Sunday four of my teammates go to church (and get a huge free breakfast wtf) so I wake up alone in my room. The sun shines through our fragile curtain in Mayan tradition catching my closed lids no matter how I hide. 8:30 and two hours later than usual is a gift. The third shower of the since last Sunday feels permanent. The week is a dull ache in the calves and shoulders. It's amazing to look in the mirror and see a different person.
The dishes are filthy, but with some Apocalyptica playing the routine of filling the sink then emptying becomes meditative and my battery buzzes with newfound energy. There's only one egg left, but I don't mind giving it away to Keri who comes in from a phone call. She's been talking to her girlfriend back home, we have many other similarities. I make 12 cups of Dunkin Donuts 4 are mine, let them fight over the rest. Over a bowl of Honey Nut Scooters I study lesson 15 of my Tarot excersizes: card pairs. The ace-ace pairing is strongest, but my book explains that the cards can be paired whenever their is a personal connection from one to the next. This brings up a lot of questions which I play around with while walking back upstairs.
Facing east, the Sun Salutation: mountain pose with my arms at my sides, then I touch my toes. A month ago I would have groaned, but my back bends easily now. Downward dog with my soles on the ground modifys to the plank, straight-backed touching the carpet with toes and palms. Lowering myself to the ground my head taps the metal frame of my bed. Upward dog to plank, chair pose through a wide slow rotation of my shoulders. The neck pops, the back pops with it, the battery buzzes.
My daily reading is the Ace of Pentacles, so I'm supposed to focus on taking care of my body as well as rewarding it and giving it pleasure. I should not dwell in thoughts, but the concrete the card asks, but soon after I forget.
6 Corps Members pile into the van and head to the mall. Jordan pairs with Megan, both estatic to buy outfits; Lindsay and Erin wander around, probably just enjoying the "fresh air"; Zar and I plan on Babylon A.D. but have some time to kill. I decide to shop for a birthday, or maybe two :). Hot Topic has a three dollar rack of shirts, but I don't fit in youth larges anymore. Game Stop gives me a Guitar Hero fix, and taco johns fills me. We see Traitor instead, a film about suicide bombers. The wheels upstairs keep turning, especially when I twist the longer clump of hair on my temple.
I could be a cop I guess, but what kind? and I'd love carrying a gun, and I could be a film maker, the educational award could apply to film school, director? then I could write my own film, but I don't have a brother like the Coen's and that's so marketable, so maybe camera or lighting or editing so the critical eye has something to focus on, but let it focus on the movie!
On the way home the phone buzzes to tell me Apocalyptica has a show in Des Moines next Friday, so I make plans instantly.
Safe at home with nothing to do but charge, so I have time to listen to the 4 cello metal band, think about how the show will be, and connect again in some small way to my friends.

Hey Col,

I must have had an error in the web address I was using so finally your Dad sent me the link. This has been a fascinating read, you really have quite the nack to engross the reader!

Is this still your address?
Colin Hill - Class 15
Americorps NCCC
1002 G Avenue
Vinton, IA 52349

I would like to send you a belated birthday gift (money, lollipops) or whatever would come in handy now. Let me know if you have a preference for something in particular. Not sure how well a good pizza or T-bone steak would travel. If you get a chance send me a quick note as I would like to get your email also.

Love,
Annie
