I had to wait for a while. Although I didn't finish my one post per day goal for last week, I still feel pretty good about writing that much. And boy... did my stories acumulate.
I started taking chantix a week ago which means today is quittin' day. I had my last cigarette last night, well this morning, around 12:30 AM. I did my usual routine when I smoke by myself; look at the stars, try and connect to nature, yada yada... but this time I focused on the cigarette. I tried to imagine it burning up my lungs and hurting me. The medicine works because halfway through that cigarette I just wanted to throw it away. I'd planned on chainsmoking my last two, but I didn't. That last cigarette is still in my pocket with my lighter, and they'll stay their for comfort.
Cole and I have been planning a little game for the last few weeks, and on Wednesday it all came out. We had a talent show that night, no coincidence as it was prime time for our "event." At the end of the show, our MC Will warned the Corps Members that they should be careful walking back to their dorms; that strange things were happening around campus. Cole jumped from his seat in the back and took off for the stage screaming, "No, you don't understand! They're coming!" This was my cue. Followed by five others, we zombie walked and moaned up onto the stage, Cole flailed his weapon around, but eventually we ate him and dragged him off.
I had placed instructions for the "Civilians" to contact Dr. Niloc (hehe) with the number uninjured for a plan of escape. The zombies positioned themselves at the outermost staircases and attacked after I sent the message to go through the tunnels to Main Hall. Zombies bottlenecked them to the central staircase and down into the tunnel, where two more zombies popped out of doorways for more conversions.
By this time there were only fifteen uninjured, who contacted General Ecitsuj (Cole's last name backwards) and he sent them to the van parking lot. When they arrived, he sent another message saying "Outbreak! Your position has been compromised! Head back to Rice!" Zombies burst out from behind the vans, picking off the slackers as the rest escaped to safety.
The sun was almost down with only five Civilians left when Cole sent them the message to escape to the helipad, a circle of tied off jump ropes in the middle of a field. Needless to say, with five expert civilians carrying waterguns and pool noodles, the zombies couldn't take them out easily. I sent messages saying, "Hurry the helicopter is leaving!" but still they lagged back. Then after sending "They're Mutating!" we allowed the zombies to run full out, and the game ended soon afterwards.
This was my first experience running an ARG styled game, and I think it turned out very well. The plan didn't go directly on, and probably costed me a lot in text messaging, but the chaos was invigorating. We'll be having another outbreak inbetween the next spike.
This week has been fairly easy, with not many trainings, but we've been physically challenged. Yesterday we had Physical Training Olympics from 8 to 3:30. My team tied for first place, winning a box of wheaties. Yay? Today the lactic acid has settled leaving me with an unintentional zombie walk combined with the upper body flexibility of John McCain. yeah, I went there.
This weekend I'm taking it easy. No Independent Service Projects for me... I'll go see WallE at the $2 movie theater, probably watch some bombs go off at the Olympics, and spend good quality time with Cole, Sam, Andrew and my roommates. Oh but first... I think I'll stumble through a capture the flag game.
p.s. On Monday we had tuna veggie casserole. MMMMM!!!
and finally...

"Niloc" ..........hmmmmm, that sounds awfully familiar.
"Oj" misses you, as do we all. Another beautiful day here on the Island - the christening was lovely.
Much, much luck with the Chantix.
Dad
In other news, there's an article in the Arts & Leisure section of the NY Times about some kid who's generally acknowledged to be the world's greatest Guitar Hero player.
Clearly, they didn't do any research in Middle Tennessee.
Leaving NY this afternoon, if the weather holds. Keep checking the Southwest website to see if our flight is delayed.
Talk soon.
Do you miss my cooking yet?
Glad everything seems to be getting better.
I want to see that last cigg. the next time I see you. Good luck!
